On Sunday, the Indycar Series took the green flag in the Streets of Toronto. In the closing laps, we saw a wild crash.

Watch the Toronto crash video below.

With just 13 laps to go, Pato O’Ward spun toward the front of the field. It’s a blind corner, and many others were collected.

First, Marcus Ericsson slid into O’Ward. With two cars parked on the corner exit, the track was blocked.

Pietro Fittipaldi, Santino Ferrucci and Nolan Siegel all clipped the front nose of O’Ward. Ferrucci caught the worst of it as he climbed over the nose of O’Ward.

Ferrucci was launched sideways into the catch fence. The car came back to earth on it’s side then rolled upside down, sliding across the pavement upside down.

The red flag was quickly thrown.

Ferrucci was quick to the radio button as the car was resting upside down. He just stated, “I’m okay.”

The AMR safety team picked up the car and rolled it back in it’s wheels. Ferrucci then climbed out under his own power.

The race is currently ongoing.

Santino Ferrucci comments after the crash

Ferrucci visited the medical center but he was quickly released.

“First off, very very thankful to Indycar,” Santino Ferrucci told NBC.

“Cars are so safe. To have a scary accident like that to walk away fine. I told my wife, ‘Hey, I’m fine.’ “

“I never saw Pato. Nothing on the spotters. There was no yellows. I didn’t know to check up.”

He added, “Just a bummer.”
